The role

The Commercial Property team at BWL Legal acts for a large number of property investors and developers and clients who are buying, selling, or leasing commercial property. The successful candidate will possess excellent technical knowledge of all areas of non-contentious commercial property transactions including freehold and leasehold acquisitions, issues relating to property developments, landlord and tenant and secured lending.

In this role, the successful candidate will be required to conduct and manage their own cases from initial instruction through to conclusion. You will also assist in marketing and business development of the department and firm.

You will play a key role in driving the commercial property department forwards and using the firm’s client relationships as a solid foundation, you will build upon the existing caseload and develop new business.

This role is permanent and on a full-time basis and can be based in either our Tamworth or Darlington office.

Quantity Surveyor

BWL Group is a legal and professional services firm headquartered in Darlington. We also have additional offices in Tamworth and London with plans for further expansion.

BWL Technical Services Ltd is our RICS regulated construction consultancy firm providing a diverse range of services including quantity surveying, project management, estimating, contract risk analysis, temporary works co-ordinator and commercial management (disputes).

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor. Initially, this role will be based in our Tamworth office with some home working (2 or 3 days per week) becoming available following the induction and onboarding period.

This role will report to the Managing Director of BWL Technical Services are based in Darlington but it is hoped that the successful the candidate will take the lead in supporting our national client base of property developers.

The successful candidate will be experienced in all typical commercial functions, including contract administration, cost consultancy, estimating, final account settlement, measurement and valuations, managing change and contract variations, applications for payment and dispute resolution.

The Candidate:

You will be an ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor (with a minimum of 6 years post-graduate experience) and be keen to progress your career within a unique group of companies.

Ideally, you will be degree qualified with some experience gained in a consultancy, design or project management environment in addition to having experience gained while working with contractors.

You will have a keen eye for detail and a strong interest in property development. We are keen to speak with candidates with proven development, refurbishment and project experience.

Construction Solicitor

The Role

An opportunity has arisen at BWL Legal for a commercially astute and ambitious Construction Solicitor. This role is aimed at a solicitor with between 4 and 6 years pqe who will form part of a multi-disciplinary team. The team advises clients on all elements of property and infrastructure projects including land, corporate/commercial, construction and finance.

About You

You will be a confident Construction Solicitor and be on the roll of solicitors in England and Wales. Your work will require you to have an in-depth understanding of NEC3/4 and JCT contracts as a minimum. In your role you will provide advice on high value infrastructure contracts and supports clients in negotiating terms and conditions. You will also have experience in drafting a range of bespoke and standard form contracts used in construction including construction contracts, sub-contracts, deeds of appointment, collateral warranties, performance bonds, etc.

The ideal candidate will come from a good regional or national firm and have a solid background in a relevant area of practice.

The Role

To meet the demands of our clients, we need to be continually looking for talented individuals who can work with us and who are excited to share our journey. Recruiting a highly competent team is very time consuming, so we have decided to recruit an in-house Head Hunter to support our growth strategy over the next four years and beyond.

The successful candidate will headhunt a broad range of roles, including construction solicitors, quantity surveyors and bid consultants. Quantity Surveyor (South Coast of England)

Role: Commercial Manager (Slough)

The Role:

Acting as the main point of contact with our client, the successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial performance of a number of projects while managing a team of quantity surveyors in various project locations. The Commercial Manager will report to the Director of Technical Services and chair the Commercial Governance Board for the project. The principal duties of the Commercial Manager will be delivering to the client’s brief, managing a team of Quantity Surveyors, using project controls to manage costs, maximise revenue and reduce risk, and managing contract variations and change across a number of national telecoms projects. In addition, the Commercial Manager will be the custodian of commercial process and procedures and will ensure the project team are equipped with the right knowledge to deliver the project effectively

The Candidate:

This is a demanding role that requires an individual with drive, tenacity, strong organisational skills and excellent commercial management ability. You will have previous experience in delivering on large scale projects (preferably in telecoms, utilities or infrastructure sectors) in a consultancy or contracting business and ideally have a Quantity Surveying, or other construction-related degree and be either a Chartered Surveyor, Chartered Engineer or Chartered Manager. You will also have a track record of delivering excellent client service and building strong peer to peer relationships in a commercial or project team. You will be proactive with excellent communication skills and the drive and ambition to succeed. The Commercial Manager will possess an entrepreneurial outlook and passion for continually improving commercial and project processes to ensure BWL remain a leading consultancy for tier one clients

The Role:

BWL has an exciting opportunity and requires a Senior Bid Writer to write and coordinate proposals that clearly articulate a client's organisation value proposition. This role requires an ability to work under pressure and to demanding deadlines.
